Why a little Retail-therepy is good for you.

Standard

I wake up this morning and although I started to do my “usual” routine, I just didn’t seem focused or motivated as I have been in the past to really get my work accomplished. So, I decided to shut the computer down and take a walk at the mall. Yes, the mall.

Going for a stroll in the mall can be relaxing and even energizing for our health. Even going the extra mile and trying on a few cute outfits, and if your budget allows, purchasing them can help you feel better and more relaxed. Even if you don’t purchase, just shopping around makes us happier and more relaxed.

After I got finished strolling the mall, I was ready to take on the day. Besides, going through the mall also makes us realize why we do what we do, we do want that latest fashions don’t we? Or maybe your want the latest technology tool or kitchen gadget? Whatever it is, going to the mall and actually looking at the items as well as price tags, pushes you just a little bit more to accomplish your goals to get that bonus, sale, next customer , better job, higher position… whatever it is your goal is. In reality, having money really does help us be less stressed. Of course, you don’t want to mis-manage your money, cause then you’ll go back to being broke  AGAIN.

So when you’re feeling a little sluggish or un-motivated to keep going, go ahead and go for a stroll at your local mall and try on some clothes, just forget about those deadlines for an hour or two, I promise after that couple hours you’ll feel more refreshed and ready to press the “go” button again.

Stay beautiful!

This week’s tragedy tells that we don’t know when our live will end.  We must act NOW on our dreams and fulfill our purpose in life! There may not be a tomorrow. Live everyday like it’s your last.

So, just how do you find your passion? If you are really lost on what your purpose should be, you need to decide what do you unconsciously spend your time doing or reading. Do you find yourself skimming to the fashion section in your magazine? Do you have a nitch for health? Cooking? Sewing? Whatever you enjoy the most with minimal effort is your passion.

I have discovered my passion is living healthy and nutrition. I have always found myself being intrigued in that nutrition article and loved going to the gym. I have also noticed that there are a ton of people that are not satisfied with their current weight or who struggle with staying healthy. One of my goals for this blog is reach our the community around me and help those who want help reach their fitness and health goals. In the past, I have been acting on this passion not as pro actively as I could. In honor of my dear friend I will take on this passion with a more proactive mindset and go out and lend my hand on more occasions.

Stay healthy my friends!

Using your phone at the gym…yay or nay?

Look familiar? Okay, so I’ve been pretty religious about my gym routine these past couple of months. go me! With getting a good workout, I’ve noticed a few things about the habits of people at the gym. The one that sticks out the most is being on your phone constantly while working out.

Okay, I get it…they want to distract their selves so they can “workout longer”. Okay, I’ve done this a few times during a few of my workouts. Whenever I bring my phone to the gym with me, I do lose track of time and all of sudden I’m on the treadmill, bike, elliptical for 20 minutes and didn’t realize it. So that may sound great, right? Wrong!

You see not only do you become distracted when you’re using your phone at the gym and you lose track of time, you also don’t workout to your full potential. In a nutshell, you’re not concentrating on what you came to the gym for….working out!!! You’re concentrating on that Facebook post, email correspondence, text message etc etc etc.

Now if you’re using your phone for music to get you pumped up, that’s fine, but does that really require you to be looking at your phone constantly? Last I checked the answer is no!! The only reason why one should have a phone while their working out is they need the inspiration from their own music. Just don’t get too wrapped up in and forget about your workout!

This is why I leave my phone locked up when I go to the gym! So I don’t get distracted. Besides, aren’t we connected to technology like 24/7 it seems? Will it kill you to spend an hour away from your phone so you can focus on your workout? Just try it once… it might be breathtaking to put that phone down for once.

If you need the motivation, try a class to get you motivated to challenge yourself. Nothing’s better than working out with others! Besides during the classes you won’t even have time to think about your phone. That message/phone call can wait. Really…it could.
